Happy With The 40W Module Upgrade

I bought the 40W upgrade module during a sale at about 50% off. The unit was shipped very quickly and arrived a few days before the estimated date. Packaging was top notch and the instructions were intuitive. The whole process took less than an hour. To test it, I ran a job that had my 10W module struggling. It completed the job in about 1/3 the time and without the pauses that the 10W encountered. I am very happy with this upgrade.

Not as amazing as I was expecting

Don't get me wrong. It works fine. Upgrading my old D1 pro to this module was easy enough. The instructions were not too bad if a little small. I also added the extended bed, and there are no instructions with that and that experience was awful. But that is not part of this review. The 40W head definitely cuts thicker material than the 20W head, but not double, as expected. So of course it is faster, etc. but given the very high cost of the value proposition proposition just seems middle of the road for me.
The other important thing to remember is that when you are cutting thicker material, you have a massive burned edge to deal with on whatever it is you are cutting out. And that massive burned edge of plywood or hardwood or softwood needs to be dealt with in some manner. You will have black char all over the place. It is messy. I have a full woodworking shop and many tools at my disposal, including a router, jointer and multiple Sanders and I tried them all. I settled on cleaning up straight edges with the jointer. If you do not have access to tools, like this and are relying on hand sanding, or just sealing the edge, or some other method than beware that you are in for some work.
So is it the right tool for cutting out project parts out of 16 mm wood? Maybe or maybe not. It is certainly faster than a bandsaw, but I wonder if a CNC machine would have worked better for my projects.
I am able to cut birch plywood up to 16 mm in two passes and 16 mm cedar in one pass that ends up looking like a forest fire or in two passes for a better look.
