Using 14ga 3x2 rectangular tube for the table, 14ga 2 x 2 for the legs, and 14 ga carbon steel sheet for the top. 1.6mm wire for welding and cutting like butter. 1.6mm was more forgiving with fitment gaps and worked out great for this project.

xTool MetalFab can cut/stainless steel, aluminum, brass, carbon steel, galvanized sheet, titanium, nickel alloy, magnesium, etc.
Welding and cutting capabilities:
- The 1200W welder can weld up to 5mm stainless steel/carbon steel, while the 800W model handles up to 4mm.
- The 1200W welder can cut (handheld cutting) up to 5mm stainless steel/carbon steel, while the 800W model handles up to 3mm.
- When paired with a CNC cutting platform:
- 1200W: Burr-free cuts for 5mm stainless steel, 4mm aluminum, 3mm brass, 10mm carbon steel/galvanized sheet. Cut Max. 12mm carbon steel with dross.
- 800W: Burr-free cuts for 3mm stainless steel, 2mm aluminum, 2mm brass, 8mm carbon steel/galvanized sheet.
Design differences:
- The 1200W welder includes a free wire feeder, while the 800W model has a built-in wire feeding mechanism and is lighter in weight.
Welding: Nitrogen or argon gas with purity above 99.99% is suitable for most metals. The required welding pressure ranges from 0.1–0.2 MPa, with a gas flow rate of 15–30 L/min (argon is required for welding titanium alloys).
Cutting: Compressed air, nitrogen/argon (purity >99.99%), or oxygen are commonly used as shielding gases.
- xTool air compressor and air dryer provide stable compressed air, enabling burr-free cuts at 0.6 MPa for 4mm stainless steel, 4mm aluminum, 3mm copper, 1mm carbon steel, and galvanized steel (1200W laser) when paired with xTool SaveGas™ Nozzle. This setup significantly reduces costs compared to gas cylinders.
- Nitrogen/argon (at 1.2 MPa) can achieve burr-free cuts for the same materials (1200W).
- Oxygen is primarily used for cutting carbon steel and galvanized steel above 1mm thick. With a dual-layer nozzle and focal extension tube at 0.06–0.07 MPa, it can cut up to 10mm carbon steel/galvanized steel (1200W).
Cleaning: Compressed air is sufficient, but nitrogen or argon is recommended for brighter, oxidation-free results.

Laser welding is safe when you wear necessary PPEs and follow the must-know operation tips. xTool laser welder features multiple safety protections including emergency stop button, inter lock, safety circuit design and dual-trigger buttons. It only enables laser emission when the welding nozzle contacts metal pieces. We also provided the necessary PPEs (OD 6+ laser welding goggles and heat-resistant gloves) for your safety. Le travail du métal n'est pas mon domaine de prédilection, mais j'ai toujours été fasciné par ce matériau, notamment pour l'artisanat et les projets à petite échelle.
J'ai été impressionné par l'emballage et l'organisation de ces machines tout au long du transport. Vu le prix, il était évident que les palettes étaient conçues pour un transport en toute sécurité et que tout est arrivé en parfait état.
L'installation était simple et intuitive grâce aux outils, à la documentation et aux tutoriels vidéo fournis. Le gain de place de la CNC est particulièrement appréciable. Bien que plusieurs personnes aient été nécessaires pour installer la CNC à son emplacement final, le montage peut être réalisé facilement seul.
En travaillant en studio, la configuration et le calibrage initiaux ont été un jeu d'enfant et j'ai pu commencer la découpe l'après-midi même où toutes les pièces étaient assemblées. J'ai opté pour l'utilisation principale du compresseur et du sécheur d'air, et j'ai obtenu jusqu'à présent d'excellents résultats, très nets. La mise en place des tests de matériaux a été simple, ce qui m'a permis d'affiner mes réglages.
J'adore la polyvalence de cette machine. La découpe de barres plates est un jeu d'enfant, mais l'assemblage et le soudage sont un vrai régal. Je suis encore novice en soudure, mais le dévidoir et la poignée laser inclus m'ont permis d'obtenir rapidement des résultats nets et précis. J'ai encore beaucoup à apprendre et j'ai hâte d'expérimenter les réglages plus avancés qui me permettront de perfectionner mes compétences.

Idéal pour la découpe CNC et le soudage laser à petite échelle, avec une grande variété de matériaux et d'épaisseurs. La possibilité d'utiliser un compresseur d'air et un sécheur plutôt que des gaz traditionnels offre une solution économique. La découpe de grandes pièces est possible, mais des améliorations sont nécessaires pour obtenir une pièce continue de plus de 60 cm (24 pouces).
